Supreme Temple

The headquarters of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is located in McAlester, Oklahoma, USA. It houses in a magnificent building built FOR Rainbow girls BY Rainbow girls. The executive offices, the supply department, auditorium, trophy room, library, and reception room are located here. This beautiful edifice cost one-half million dollars and is a monument to a youth organization built on the principles of Love and Service. The laying of the cornerstone took place on May 2, 1951. The building was completed and formally opened on November 18, 1951.

Architecture

An imposing entrance runs the full three-story height of the building, flanked on either side by half-circle wings composed of glass windows.

The official Rainbow emblem is directly above the entrance. The first floor has a foyer, library, reception room, a large kitchen, stock room, and boiler room. In the library hangs a beautiful oil painting of Rev. Sexson, which was presented to him by the Rainbow Girls of Texas. Also in the library, Rev. Sexson placed his own personal library, which contains many rare books. In the foyer, there is a bronze bust of Rev. Sexson on a mahogany stand, a gift from the girls of all the states.

The office staff is located on the second floor, as well as the supply department. The entire third floor is devoted to a spacious auditorium, the House of Gold, for use by the members of the Supreme Body in their sessions. Fifty throne-style seats are installed here, and the room has a seating capacity of 300.

The dimensions of the building are 85 by 120 feet. Outside doors and windows are of aluminum and glass. The cream-colored face brick is offset by India limestone and granite trim. Inside partitions are of plaster with marble and walnut trim. Floors are terrazzo and asphalt tile. There is one passenger elevator and two dumbwaiter-type elevators.
