ALL OHIO RAINBOW EVENTS CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
From Supreme Deputy Mom Whitney Poma:
Sadly, we have arrived at the time where I believe it is essential to cancel *all* Ohio Rainbow activities, including those for your local Assemblies and Districts, until further notice--likely until the public schools are re-opened.
In light of recent announcements from Governor Mike DeWine regarding the impending closure of bars and restaurants and in the interest of our continued safety for our Rainbow families and our surrounding communities, we need to do our part to stop the spread of this virus.
A few important notes:
1. I strongly encourage you to coordinate virtual meetings using modern technologies for remote meetings like freeconferencecall.com. Continuing to meet virtually will help your Assembly to remain engaged and offer a much needed relief from the social distancing that is occurring around us.
Not tech savvy? Ask around for support! There's a good chance one of your girls knows how to!
Ritualistic work should not be performed during any virtual group meeting. Please only discuss items specific to your meeting's agenda.
2. If you have extenuating circumstances or need counsel about how to proceed with essential business from an otherwise cancelled event, please discuss with your Grand Deputy and seek my guidance if further advice is needed. I am happy to help.
3. While this is tough for all of us, please reach out to me discreetly via email or phone if you know of any families in our jurisdiction that are facing extenuating circumstances as result of what's happening surrounding COVID-19. I can't promise to be able to offer any assistance but can try.
Governor DeWine's latest comments:
Covid-19 Updates
It’s been a very interesting few days in Ohio, from the first cases in Cleveland (and now 4 in Cincinnati), to the Governor’s mandate closing schools for 3 weeks and banning mass gatherings.
In concern of health (and mandates), the following events have been cancelled or postponed (new date included if known):
Tri-Youth Initiation and Dance in Cleveland 3/14
Grand Reception in Findlay 3/29 (rescheduled for 5/16)
Tadmor Shrine Circus (postponed to September)
Zenobia Shrine Circus
Aladdin Shrine Circus
If you have information about a local event being cancelled or postponed that you would like me to share - please email me at ohiorainbow20@gmail.com!

Ohio Masonic Youth Leadership Day!
See the flyer here and read the information below! (Flyer is also linked on the calendar event)
We are so excited to announce a new, higher level of leadership training for Ohio Rainbow that's built on the foundation of the Masonic Lodge's successful Masonic Model Student Assistance Program. Furthermore, the adult leaders of each of the three Masonic Youth groups are excited to be offering this program to all of the youth groups combined.
This day will be a moment for our youth and advisors to be trained by professionals about how to create healthy, positive relationships – with ourselves, our peers, and (perhaps most importantly) between our members and advisors!
This will be an interactive and hands-on training – no lengthy PowerPoint presentations to be found! It is bound to be a high-impact and memorable day – hopefully full of “A-ha!” moments and breakthroughs that will help Assemblies thrive upon their new-found strengthened relationships and serve our members in their lives well beyond Rainbow.
CAN YOU TELL I’M EXCITED?!
Event Details:
Date: March 7th, 2020
Time: STARTS at 10 am, wraps up at 4 pm. Registration will open by 9 am.
Location: Aladdin Shrine Center 1801 Gateway Circle, Grove City, OH 43123
Invitees:
Members, advisory board members, & member’s parents of each Job’s, Rainbow, and DeMolay.
Please, no prospects or otherwise. We are expecting a full house so we want to be sure to prioritize this experience for those that are actively involved.
Cost: $10 per person - Lunch & Snacks will be provided.
Next Steps:
1. ASAP -- Check out the flyer and get EXCITED!
2. By February 23rd -- Register at the URL found on the flyer. I will let you ladies determine the most efficient way for each of your Assemblies to register your Advisors and Members. Having 1 person register for your entire Assembly or having everyone register independently are a couple of potential ways you could go about it. Registration closes on the 23rd at midnight so we can have a final headcount to prepare for food and other material quantities.
FAQ:
Q: Is this happening in addition to RED Day or is RED Day canceled?
A: The Ohio Masonic Youth Leadership Day will, at least for this year, replace our annual RED day. As such, it is taking place at the Aladdin Shrine Center on the original date that was reserved for RED Day.
Q: Is this event mandatory, like RED Day has been in the past?
A: This event is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged for all Advisory Board members and Rainbow Girls to attend because it’s going to be a powerful day! I constantly receive requests for this caliber of leadership training for our members and advisors. Here it is!
Q: Can prospects or other outside adults come, too?
A: Please bring only members, Advisory Board members, and/or members’ parents to this event as it will be a highly attended day.
Q: Is there a limit to how many people can attend?
A: There is no limit – we will be utilizing the entire Aladdin Shrine Center but do expect that the sessions will be quite full!

New Elected Grand Officer Eligibility Rules
The Grand Executive Committee held a productive meeting during this past Grand Assembly. We discussed many important topics in the spirit of advancing our Order.
A decision was made to revise the requirements for eligibility to run for an Elected Grand Office. This change is two-fold:
1. Districts can refer more than one candidate to run for an elected grand office, just not for the same office. Previously, a district could only submit 1 girl to run for 1 of the offices.
2. GWAA and GWA can be from the same district in consecutive years. Previously, 1 year needed to pass between girls from the same district for these offices.
Should a district happen to now have more than one girl hoping to run for the same elected Grand Office during the same year, then it should be made known to the recommending Advisory Board that she inquired 1st. It is ultimately up to the Board's discussion and resulting decision as to which girl is nominated to interview.
The rules document has been updated accordingly and is available under Grand Deputy Resources.
